The Integra™CRW® system epitomizes simplicity, quality assurance, and versatility
CT and MRI compatible
Phantom base target confirmation
Simple computer-based targeting
Total surgical field sterility
Because of its unparalleled accuracy, versatility, and quality assurance, the CRW system is the world's premier stereotactic system. The CRW system can be configured as a basic CT-only system, a CT/MR scanner-dependent system, or a high-level CT/MR scanner-independent system with the quality assurance of a phantom base.
Conformal Beam Therapy
Unlimited Versatility The CRW Stereotactic System enables the widest choice of targets, entry points, and path approaches. Its target-centered arc principle means that all arc paths pass to the target. With the CRW System, all approaches are easily achieved, including transsphenoidal, full lateral, posterior fossa and standard approaches.
Posterior Fossa Approach
Ultimate Accuracy Every component of the CRW Stereotactic System is designed to contribute to unparalleled accuracy. Two thumb lock screws to secure coordinate settings, vernier scaling at target and trajectory settings, double bolt fixation of the head ring to the MAYFIELD® adaptor, and a solid frame constructed of aluminum alloy each contribute to its accuracy. The sum of these features amounts to a frame that is perfectly suited to inspire confidence in accuracy especially important for its application in functional neurosurgery.
Complete Sterile Draping Because the head ring is separate from the arc, the CRW system offers a major advantage in sterile draping. The placement of the sterile arc on the head ring in the operating room allows continued sterility and exposure of the AP and LAT scales. The result is the ability to change target settings and retractor positions without a compromise to sterility. In addition, Integra provides the Apuzzo sterile drape to ensure ease in draping the arc system.
Service and Maintenance Integra offers service and maintenance agreements that will maintain your CRW Arc and Phantom Base with annual refurbishment and calibration. In addition, with a service agreement, Integra provides quality, professional telephone customer support, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Indications for Using the CRW System Standard Stereotactic Procedures The CRW stereotactic system is a multi-purpose system used for localizing intra-cranial targets for precisely directing instruments such as:
RF lesioning electrodes
Deep brain electrodes
Recording and stimulating electrodes
Note: Localization is performed using CT or MR imaging.
Contraindications for the CRW System
The head ring is contraindicated for infants whose coronal sutures have not yet closed.
The CRW system is contraindicated for patients with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.
CRW System Warnings
The CRW system should be viewed as adjuncts to the skills of the surgeon.
To ensure proper accuracy and function of the CRW system, do not subject any of the CRW system's parts or accessories to any forces that may affect its use or calibration.
Always inspect the CRW system's parts and accessories prior to use. If any of the parts or accessories are damaged in a way that may potentially affect the system's accuracy or function, please return the system to Integra Radionics for service.
If the CRW system is to be used with a ground-referenced electrosurgical device (monopolar or bipolar electrode), the head ring should not contact the patient. Maintain a gap (at least ¼ inch) between the head ring and the patient's body.
Follow safety procedures consistent with the use of anesthetizing gases when using the arc system with electrosurgical equipment.
Review the system and its accessories prior to surgery to ensure that all items are available and functional.
CRW System Notes The CRW Precision™ Arc (CRWPRECISE), CRW Arc System (CRWASL), Head Ring Assembly with Intubation Mounts (HRAIM), and Brown Roberts Wells localizer frame (BRWLF) are CT imaging-compatible only. The CRW Precision Arc, CRW Arc System, Head Ring Assembly with Intubation Mounts, and Brown Roberts Wells localizer frame are CT imaging-compatible only. MR Imaging requires the use of the Universal Compact Head Ring (UCHRA) and the Luminant Localizer Frame (LL01).
Apuzzo Drape Warning The Apuzzo Stereotactic Drapes (ASD1 and ASD1B) are designed as single-use, disposable products and should not be re-sterilized or reused. Reuse of this device may result in cross contamination or compromised sterility of the drape and sterile field. Any drape, once used, should be discarded according to hospital policy.
Service and Maintenance Warnings The CRW Precision Arc and Phantom Base are manufactured and calibrated to have an intrinsic accuracy of 0.5 mm or less, determined by bench testing. The CRW Precision Arc and Phantom Base should be returned to Integra Radionics at a minimum of once a year for inspection and calibration. If the system is subject to damage or its accuracy is in question, the system should be returned to be inspected and calibrated immediately.
The CRW Precision Arc and the CRW Phantom Base are not serviceable by the user and only should be repaired and calibrated at the Integra factory.
