Integra Sales Director Eddie Brings Family Values into His Role
Eddie Cortez, area sales director of the West Coast, took a typical sales route by working at a payroll company where he learned the foundations of the job. When he joined Integra more than 12 years ago at the young age of 24, he had the opportunity of a lifetime to advance his position while learning valuable lessons along the way. He attributes his exponential career growth to the values instilled by his father that he carried forward as a parent of three. His dad was a sales trainer who preached the ‘hard skill’ and ‘soft skill’ fundamentals of sales since he was a child.
First, find positive role models & mentors: Eddie was hired within the sales organization by a sales leader who still works with Integra and remains a mentor. Originally from Seattle, he traveled to Las Vegas working closely with his supervisor to become expert at the region. Over time, he also shadowed members of the leadership team who developed him as he progressed the scope of his role and was promoted several times. These role models coached him when things were going well and when he hit rough patches along the way.
Second, define your own path: “I deeply appreciate Integra’s willingness to invest in people if they invest in themselves. I have worked in different locations and positions as I built my career at this nimble and continually growing company. Integra encourages you to take your own approach in how you fulfill your job, providing the best results for the organization and, at the end of the day, the patients that we serve. The company genuinely cares about its employees and personal lives, including their families, who are inspiration to many of us.”
Third, do what you believe in: Eddie believes Integra has a uniquely talented sales staff and management team – in his opinion, the best in the industry (and he isn’t shy about saying that) – because they feel strongly about bringing life-saving medical devices to those in need. Integra’s market-leading products motivate teams to put in the time and energy required to stay committed, form strong client relationships, and deliver results. Eddie lives with his wife and children in Seattle and looks forward to passing down these values that served him well.
